Red Money Wrestling ran another disaster in Michigan today. In light of the Nike controversy they decided to have a Patriots Day show with free admission to Veterans and their families. My belief is they’re really trying to get eyes on the product and fix the reputation of the company. This was not successful and that’s putting it mildly.
The show began with an military tribute video package. Somebody really messed up here, because the clips of heat signature cams blowing up Afghans, stills of the aftermath of Hiroshima, and pictures of Chris Dorner. If you didn’t know any better you’d think this was deliberate, but the way it was put together seemed very genuine. It was unbelievable but it gets much worse.
The audience is now slightly enraged as they announce the singing of the National Anthem. RMW’s own Legend gave it his all, but it was so off key it should’ve been considered a war crime. During the Anthem Sweet J kneeled which got wild boos from the red necks at the show. War Pig and RIOT rushed to fight him and as they care over War Pig is so fat he bumped into these two torches beside the flag and set the damn thing in fire! Now the soldiers in the building are trying to jump the guardrail to save the flag. Luckily Wifebeater came from the crowd with a bottle of whiskey, spit it on the flag to put out the fire, and ended up sending a fireball at a WW2 veteran who was being honored for the evening.
After all of this the show actually did get underway with Kevin Klash taking on Black Tyger. This could’ve been a great highflying showpiece match. Two minutes into it Klash hits Tyger with chair in the back and the ref calls for a DQ. RMW never does a DQ finish, but the refs have been instructed to follow Michigan board rules for wrestling. Klash got hot, grabbed the ref for a Michinoku Driver, and spiked him right on his head. The ref was not able to get up. Kevin took a mic and bluntly said “I fucking quit fuck this place.” Parents in the crowd were not pleased. It took 45+ minutes for staff to get him on a stretcher and out of the building at which point the couple dozen fans who hadn’t left at the beginning walked out. Michigan State Athletic Commission were seen hanging around having shouting matches with RMW owner Mysterious X.
The contract for this “Battlezone” in Michigan was provisional so I can’t say with 100% fact, but I’m almost certain they’re done.
